How long is the IELTS test?

The IELTS test takes approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes to complete. The Listening, Reading, and Writing sections are completed on the same day, with no breaks between them. The Speaking section can be completed up to a week before or after the other tests.

How is the IELTS test scored?

IELTS results are reported on a 9-band scale, with each band corresponding to a specified competence level. Overall band scores are calculated to the nearest half band. Each of the four skills (Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking) is equally weighted.

How long are IELTS results valid?

IELTS test results are valid for 2 years from the date of the test. This is because language proficiency can change significantly over time if not used regularly.

What identification do I need to bring on test day?

You must bring the same identification document that you used when you registered for the test. This must be a valid passport for most test takers. Some test centers may accept national identity cards in certain countries.

Can I reschedule my IELTS test?

Yes, you can reschedule your test, but you must do so at least 5 weeks before your test date to receive a refund. A fee may apply for rescheduling. Contact your test center for specific policies.

What's the difference between IELTS Academic and General Training?

IELTS Academic is designed for people applying for higher education or professional registration.
